Buzzing in! It’s Melipona, the stingless bee. Did you know that my species is unique because, we can’t sting. My talent is collecting nectar from even the tiniest flowers that other bees might overlook. I am called the “Mother of Medicine” for a reason! My honey contains a rare sugar called trehalulose, which has anti-diabetic and antioxidant activities keeping the glycaemic index (GI) low. The honey we produce is naturally thinner and slightly sour due to its higher moisture content. Nagaland is a hotspot for stingless bees in India, with 6 out of 9 species found in this majestic region.
